Let’s sort that story in November!

When Covid wiped my diary clean last Spring I knew I would have to go digital. So I offered a weekly coaching deal for upto twelve people and all the places were snapped up in 24 hours!

Since then I have invested in online course training with the Canadian company Mirasee and now the coaching sessions are back!

The coaching is available during November and you will get four one-to-one sessions for £200. This includes the sessions themselves as well as written feedback after each session.

If you’re ready to grab the offer click here or on one of the other buttons on the page. There is more information below.

All the best,

Michael

Here is what the last cohort had to say about their coaching experience with me…

Thank-you, Michael, for encouraging the discovery of authentic telling. The material and myself now weave as a unit, combining the various modes of telling you presented. The story is not separate, or staged, I allow it to flow. This discovery was essential - thank-you, Michael for your expertise and guidance.
— Siân Miriam Parry, storyteller and singer
The most beneficial use of time and money I can remember spending. I made so much progress in such a short time.
— Jonathan Lambert, storyteller and musician
I have started taking online coaching sessions with Michael and have found them incredibly useful. For a long time I felt that I wasn’t developing in my storytelling. After just one session with Michael, I could clearly see the way forward. The sessions with him have been great fun as well as challenging and he gives detailed written feedback to work with after every session. I can’t recommend this process highly enough. Supercharge your storytelling

About Me

I have been a full-time professional storyteller for twenty-five years and been teaching and coaching storytellers for twenty years, including the annual Bleddfa Week of Storytelling. I have taught in universities and festivals and have worked in every continent (except Antarctica!). I have worked with major cultural institutions like the National Museums of Wales, the British Museum and the BBC as well as hundreds of schools. I have won awards for my storytelling and have worked with production companies (including Adverse Camber), festivals (Beyond the Border etc) and storytelling centres (including La Maison du Conte).

In that time I have developed methods that will deepen your understanding of what storytelling is, give you the tools to do it better and allow you to have more fun and satisfaction from doing it.

Who is This Coaching For?

If you are ready for the next leap forward but don’t know how to make it happen; if you’re working on something and it just won’t turn into the great story you know it is; if you are only just beginning and don’t know where to start; if you are a professional teller and there is a bit of repertoire you really want to nail but it keeps on slipping out of your grasp; if you are moving into a new field of repertoire, like myth; if the storytelling challenge facing you is full of potential but you’re not sure how to realise it… then this coaching is for you.

How Does it Work?

You click here to pay your £200 fee and then let me know the days and times that suit you best and email me with your options and I will get back to you to confirm. A regular weekly rhythm is best. I understand that life can be unpredictable, so if you have to change your day or time we will find another mutually convenient slot. I have kept coaching hours to UK working hours but if you live somewhere that has a massive time difference from there, don’t let that stop you. Send me an email and we’ll sort something out.

The sessions are on zoom so you will need to open a zoom account if you haven’t already (skype is also an option if you prefer). Over the last few months I have been pleased and surprised by just how effective zoom meetings are for coaching, as you can see from the feedback from my previous online coaching offer on this page.

In our first session we will spend some time prioritizing what you want to work on and then crack on with the nitty-gritty of developing your storytelling practice. Bring a story to work on and don’t worry about telling anything ‘ready’ when we first meet. It would better if you came with something you really want to tell but is causing you frustration or feels a bit out of reach, because that is where the learning and discovery really happens!

After each session I will send you some written feedback so that you have a record of what we did and you can see the progression of the four sessions once it is all over. Creative learning is often very immersive, which means that we can come out of a session stimulated and satisfied but not able to remember exactly what it was that we just did. These notes and reflections will keep the continuity, help you see your own progression and allow you to plan your way ahead once the sessions are over.

Michael has an easy and encouraging manner which makes it easy to try things out - but his style is informed by a depth of knowledge and skill. I have benefitted so much from these sessions.
— Dr. Steve Killick, storyteller and psychologist
There’s a big difference between a performer who tells you what they have learnt, and a teacher who makes a space for you to learn what you are ready to learn, and walks beside you while you do it. Michael is a true teacher.
— Alys Torrance, storyteller and actor
Michael Harvey’s storytelling coaching is phenomenal. I learned a lot about mastering the flow of story, and about marrying the different worlds to create a colourful tapestry which the story audience can see clearly. I really value Michael’s natural, heartfelt, sensitive and inspiring way of coaching.
— Nana Tomova, storyteller and pharmacist
Michael, is a master storyteller and a highly skilled facilitator. He has that rare gift of putting you at ease, whilst also keeping you, creatively ‘on your toes‘, simultaneously. The sessions were invaluable, supporting me to develop a more nuanced and authentic voice.
— Deborah Gordon, storyteller
